My Ford Fiesta keeps cutting out when i drop the clutch while stopping.?

if i keep the revs and speed low (30mph ish) the problem doesnt happen.
40mph + (motorway speeds) the instant i drop the clutch the engine cuts out. i am able to pop the clutch and keep the engine running so long as im moving.

while standing, the engine doesnt sound smooth (there seems to be a kink in the sound). The engine turns over just fine though.
