i have some tiger barbs and tinfoil barbs and they keep nibbling at my blue acara's back lower fin why and how can i stop it?

Barbs will nip at the fins of slower moving fish and those with longer fins. This is why you should not house barbs with such fish.

Also, tinfoil barbs grow very big. Specimens tend to reach about 15" - 18" long and 6" or 7" tall. These should be kept by experienced keepers only I'm afraid, your pet store should not have sold them to you if your tank is less than 600L or so.

Good luck, by the way tiger barbs are shoaling fish and should be in groups of 5 or more in regular tanks, and larger shoals in bigger tanks.
