My fish just died! Is it possible that she burned herself on the heater?

My little blue guppy just died :( I smelled something burning, so that was the only reason I went into the room where my fish tank was. When I went in there, the fish was kind of in the gravel, just floating around, and some of her body was white and black, where it used to be blue. My other fish was just hovering near her and one of the plants. Is it possible that she burned on the heater? She always hovered by the heater before, so maybe that explains some things. Please let me know if this is a possibility!

Well considering how you described this to us, that you smelt burning fish fillet, and she is always hovering around the heater, then yes, she is probably burn't by the heater ( there goes another one.) next time, if possible, lower your water level.May what ever her name is rest in peace.

Heaters heat the water slowly to keep the fish from being shocked. Is it possible that the heater malfunctioned and made the water really hot? A functioning heater won't heat the water so much that you'll smell something burning, and it definitely won't burn the fish so that it dies.

Good luck
