i have had my 30 gallon tank running for about 14 weeks now its fully cycled no ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.the water is good.

i feed the fish every other day. my dalmation mollie died today not sure why he looked a little pale when i looked at him once i took him out of the tank.the rest of the fish seem fine.
could it be the temp of the water as i always keep it between 25-28 its now on 29
i have just turnt it down but on the side of the tank the reading is saying 29
and the actual heater in the tank is at 20???????
but its really hot where i am rite now so could the heat in my house affected the tank?
i didnt handle fish till it died as i had 2 get it out of tank

try get an internal thermometer for your tank as outside temp can affect the stick on ones. if the internal thermometer still says the same temp then you have to replace your heater as it may be for a bigger tank or just defective and your fishies could be slowly boiling.
other than that, the poor little sucker may just have been a sick fish.

If your water parameters are good it could have just been sick the whole time. Fish tend to not act sick until right before they die as they would be seen as an easy target if they didn't hid the sickness. (Birds will do this too). Anyways, check the pH. Also, one thing I have noticed about a lot of heaters is that the temperature it says on the knob isn't accurate, I just have to keep tweaking mine until it's right. If it is ever above desired temp and the heater light is on, then it needs to be turned down, regardless of what the setting says it's on. I have to buffer the pH in my tap water before I add it to my tank, so check that first.

Your PH could be out of whack or Molly's have to stay at a constant Temperature if it changes they will die they should also not be handled

You never know when you got him he couldve just been an older fish or yes, id say it has somthing to do with the temp.

Sorry ablout your loss!
Hope it helped!
God Bless!

First, I am very sorry your fish died!!!
I could have died from these things.
- Old Age
- I could have go caught in a fake plant
- If you have any pets they could have got into the tank
- It could have not gotten any food when you fed it.
- If it was a fighting fish, it could have gotten into a fight
- The water may have been to cold
- The water could have been to hot
- It could have had a disease... (it was sick)
Hope that this helped! And again I am very sorry!!!!!!!!!

Mollies have very short intestinal tracts and benefit from several small feedings every day. In the wild they are grazers, nibbling on algae and rotifers all day long. Because your molly was already stressed by going through the tank cycle, it probably was worn out by lack of nutrition.

Mollies can handle heat better than most fish. In Florida I saw Sailfin mollies swimming around in the middle of the afternoon in the warm shallow water of the bayou. Just increase the feedings and you will have better luck with all your livebearers.
