sounds like your fish has white spot. If left untreated it is a condition that can spread to the rest of your tank.

You can buy a treatment in any local pet shop- its a small bottle of liquid, you add a few drops to the water and that should clear it up. Anyone in a pet shop should be able to help you select the best brand for your needs.

it's not white spot because it would be several small white spots all close together and usualy appear on fins and the side of the body.
it may be a fungus - look closely and see if it looks like cotton wool, if yes, then get an anti fungus treatment from your local pet shop, if it's not fungus then go into your pet shop and explain it to them and they will be able to give you exactly what you need!!

could be a few things :/
does you fish's tail fin have the white on there
and is the fish's tail fin looking like its being eaten away?
if so you fish could have white spot which is cure-able.
research more on the internet or read a few books on fish if possible

i bought a fish with white and blue spots on it o.O ended up it was some sort of diesease and it died :( So i'd get rid of it cause it can spread in ur fish tank ( Im no saying kill it, im saying give it back to the pet store. or put it in a seprate tank to die in peace or get some treatment for it lol )
