My first Blu-Ray 3D film

Couple months ago I registered to become a member of the LIDL's movie club (cheaper than LOVEFILM!) and this week I received The Final Destination. It was a 2-disc pack: Disc 1 is Blu-Ray and Disc 2 is in 3D. Tried the watching the 3D version tonight through a pair of 3D specs that came with The Sun a few weeks ago, it made my eyes go funny after a couple of minutes :D

yeah that uses the older style of 3d thats not great.
theyve just started releasing blu rays that take advantage of the new technology, though you need a fancy new 3d telly too.
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs is the only one ive seen so far

I shouldn't worry too much about 3D Blurays , the idea is already a dead duck - unless you really expect people to buy new tv's , new players, new software and to wear

Final Destination 4 was the first 3d film I watched on blu ray aswell.

What a pile of crap!! Why would I want to watch the film in a different colour than they way it was originally made??

I put the other disc in instead. It's a shame that the film was utter rubbish anyway regardless of it being 3d :D

All current 3D Blurays/dvd's use the old anaglyph system which is basically crap .
C4 used it earlier this year too.

Its a novelty but the pictures really are not very good.

3D will not be a mass market success until its possible with good quality and no glasses

Apart from losing the colour detail, Coraline isnt too bad in 3D on Blu Ray and works so much better than the appauling Polar Express 3D..
It uses a different colour sceme for the 3D effect than the usual red/blue glasses. They are Green/Purple instead.

Given that everyone has just updated to HD ready TV's I doubt they'll be eager to upgrade yet again to 3D ready TV's, especially when there is no content, and it's probably a fad.

People with PS3's don't need to buy new Blu-Ray players, as Sony are releasing a free update in September. The best Blu-Ray player gets even better!

Not that it'll affect me. 3D won't become the norm until the technology is developed to allow it to work without glasses.

Grumble i hate that fake 3d. Its a great way to sully the name of 3d and cause confusion, silly of the industry to do this. Theres not enough frame rate and the awful color lense filters just make a mess of the experience. Its mediocre 3d is what it is.

Well no, the technology that makes 3d tv possible is essentially the natural trend of tv tech in the first place, in other worRAB it will become a free feature, higher refresh/pixel response/refresh input is all that is required, and the technology moves towarRAB that inevitably. The only thing to add is an ir to sync with the glasses, and those are cheap. Its not that people will upgrade, but new buyers will eventually get it as a free feature. Todays prices are meaningless as the early prices for flat panel tvs were. There was a time when regular panels cost as much as a car pretty much.
