My fiancee has a Sanyo VPC-1275 problem, will you please help?

She turned it on and the lens came out, the screen played the video that it does when you turn it on as well as the music. After that the screen goes blank, the lens stays out and everything is unresponsive. It is definitely still on, because after it all goes blank she can hold the lens and cause it to have an error. Can anyone explain why it goes blank and unresponsive like this?
 
I would recommend contacting Sanyo, but from what I have heard their support system is very lacking... (almost a once you buy it, it is your problem not ours)
