My fan won't come on in my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0. The fuse under the

hood is good. What could it be? While my car is in idle it overheats because the fan is not coming on.
I was told there is no way of checking the fan relay on that vehicle. When i connect the fan straight to the battery the fan comes on.
