My empty pockets are now black holes.

You're gonna hate me for this, but my car only had a hose that broke. They towed the car out for free since it was a transmission problem, and they fixed it for free, too. I guess I just got lucky, but I dunno.

lol, no hate here. I had my trans fluid line bust while driving. Getting that to the shop was a real great experience.

Well, I'm glad everything is okay with your car! I don't hate you Easty. lol

Going by what I read, I am gessing you were driving, and eather you hit a curb, and caused damage, or something else happened. If there was something hanging down, My gess would have to be tierod end. Not alot of information though. You said you were driving strait, and tried to turn.

Now the real problem. If you did hit a curb, you have a 40-50% chance for a bent frame. I don't know what the car is, so can't realy give you an estimit, but they can get expensive. I will take a gess that you have a newish (10 years or less) car. They have subframes, and can be changed out in about 2 hours. The tierod ends can be replaced in about half an hour. The control arm prolly didn't break, as that would result in the tire falling off (or along those lines)

As for parts. Newer is more expensive. American cars are cheaper to fix. And a labor will run you $70-$100 an hour.

You didn't say what year, make model you have. I can check part prices for you.

Well, they took the car in today. They said it was a bent control arm and that it would take around 300 bucks to fix. I hope its just 300 bucks. That would make me one happy camper.

1994 Pontiac Grand Am. Gosh I hate that car. My car hit a curb as it slid over an ice patch. The stupid abs doesn't work on my car anymore. I just need a beater. Wait, I have one...a crappy crappy one.

A bent control arm. I will tell you that you prolly arn't getting a new part put on your car. A common fix for this is to make sure the frame is solid and do an alinment. I will try to find some part numbers, but I prolly won't find anything aftermarket. I can tell you that a used one can be bought for around $100. It would take anywhere from 3 to 8 (with parts avalible)hours depending on the condition of the car.

If you bent the control arm, you might have bent the frame. Wont cause much problems right now, but will in time. I will have to do some reserce to find something about this part, but I love a chalinge.

Thanks for your help :) You can go ahead and look if you want, but I think I'm getting it back from the shop tomorrow. The hope is to get a new car before I transfer to my next school in the fall. Yes, another crappy car, but one more depenable that this one.

It gets me from A to B, but there have been cases when the thing hasn't started. 3 women in my family have driven it. The two other women have been nothing but evil to this car. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but they really ran it to the floor. By the time I got it, it was shit. I think it makes a lot of sense as to why this car is dying. lol My step dad has driven it before too, but he beats on cars worse than the three of us combined.

Well, it hasn't killed me yet, but I have had the feeling that it would before. lol Like one time the car started shaking and going crazy. I guess the engine jammed up. (not enough oil, I know, shame on me) Let's see, when the transmission fluid hose broke, that was scary. The cat turned bright red and would have blown up had I not taken it to the shop that day (that's what the mechanics said) and last but not least, the break lights have been on for months. No, the parking break isn't on, the ABS is broken. Bah, enough complaining. lol

Chevys arn't bad cars, and relitivly cheap to fix. It can be said that there are not as reliable as hondas, but they cost 60% less to fix. A new starter for your car might run 30-40 dollers. A new started for the same year honda would run about 120.

I'm gessing it has the 4 cylinder. I can't remember for sure, but I think it is the quad 4. A strong motor, but they are prone to cracked heads. If that engin was abused badly, and is still running, you should expect 250xxx to 320xxx miles outa it.

If you got the 6, 300xxx would be the point to start looking for a new car.

The car is at 83,000 or something. Yeah, I think it is a quad four. I don't want it back. It would be nice just to bring home the 2 door blazer they have sitting at the shop lol
