Ive read a few things on here about puppies that whine when their owners leave.. however my dog is two and a half years old. hes a chihuahua. I know his behavior is my fault. I babied him and he was always with me and such. Now Im at a point where I just cant be with him all the time and I dont know how to get him to stop. When I leave he whines and scratches at the door. Even if I leave him with people he sits at the door and whines and when hes told to lay down he goes to his bed and continues to whine. Whats the best way to get him to stop.

My dog is almost 12 and I rarely leave him home by himself. he still gets upset when he is left at home without me. I think its funny because I end up missing him as much as he misses me.

Just be firm with him and don't give into his whining. He is looking for more attention. Stop treating him like a baby and hopefully he will get over it.

It seems to me that your dog is lonely when you leave.
Try leaving a radio on so that makes him believe someone is home

Good Luck

You can probably record your voice on something that you can play when you're gone. Also, try to help it find a toy that it can be with when your gone. Hopefully this helps.
