I have a 9 wk old lab mix. He was adopted one week ago and on his paperwork from the shelter it says that he was sprayed with frontline on april 9th. I understand that flea/tick medication is administered monthly but I am concerned because my pup seems to be biting at his back legs and the top of his tail ALOT lately.
Could he still have fleas even though he has had a dose of frontline?
Is there anything I can do to help him. He seems so uncomfortable especially at night..he is contantly itching/biting and whining and cant seem to get comforatable.
Thanks again for any help/advice

He may need to go to the vet and get a shot my dog would bite holes in her tail. There is also a pill that kills all flea in 30 mins or less not the eggs. So give him a bath after all the flea die.

Ok..you are doing the right thing with the frontline, even though I recommend Advantage or Revolution. You should know that even if you administered the meds your dog still might itch for a while after. If he had fleas the bites will take time to heal. Just like if you get bit by a mosquito, just bc you spray doesn't mean your itch will go away immediately. Many dogs are also allergic to the bites. IMPORTANT - do not wash your dog for at least 1 week after the meds, she shampoos can dissolve the chemicals. You can go see your vet and they will give you some stuff to releive the itching because your dog is not happy at the moment. I give my dog a low dose (5mg for my 5 lbs dog) of childrens benadryl. Ask your vet of the appropriate dose. Ther are also sprays you can buy in pet stores that releive the itching. Good luck.
