Hello, I own a 20 month bullmastiff.. just recently i found a very crusty growth in his fur at first i thought it was some dried food or some kinda dried gew but then i begain lookin more and it look to be a Scab like growth on him.. its very crusty and when you look closley it seems to have like a white paste inside of it.. other then that its very dry and it actually sticks up but he does not seem to be in pain from it.

Any ideas on what this is?

Sounds like your dog could have what is called malaysia, which is a yeast infection in the skin, that can really cause problems if neglected, (including a strong, bad odor) Malaysia is especially prominent in boxer -bulldog - mastiff dogs. It is triggered by allergies to flea bites or other allergies, which are common in these dogs. My older Boxer has had the problem almost all her 12 year life. My vet keeps her on ketoconizole which is a fairly cheap antibiotic that she takes every day.Another thing that causes the skin problems is thyroid problems. Your best bet ids to have your dog thoroughly evaluated by a vet, and follow his recommended regimen of treatment.

It could just be a scab that is a little bit infected and the white stuff could be puss just monitor it and if it gets worse take him to the vet
