my dog has a weird skin infection, it makes her so itchy that she chews and bites...

...herself until the fur is off? the vet put her on steroids, which is now making her twice as hungry and thirsty, etc. the vet doesn't know what it is, does anyone else's dog have this? and its not from fleas or anything...
 
Your dog has an allergy to something in its environment. It could be the food, allergy to grains. It could be carpet powders if you use them. It could be a weed or grass type in your yard. My dog has all three and I have to give him a Benadryl twice a day. I also use oatmeal shampoo and cream rinses to soothe his skin.
 
Hiya my dog is the same-its so annoying! It cld be from a little itch and they just cnt leave it alone! get one of thoso lampshades! She'l hate it but atleast she'l leave it heal x
 
It could be an allergic reaction to something (like food for example), or mange. Your vet should be doing skin scraping samples to determine if it is mange or not, then run some tests to see if it's an allergy. If he/she hasn't offered these to you yet, find another vet. Apparently the one you have doesn't care enough to actually look into your doggy's health problem...
