the other day i noticed a small, crusty kind of rash on my dogs ear. when i scraped off the crust, the fur in that area came off as well. then today i noticed the same kind of crusty spot on the top of his head. it is not red or anything. i will most likely see the vet if it does not get better, but i was just wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be. Should i put hydrogen peroxide on it?

DONT PUT RASH CREAM ON IT! Dogs and humans have very diffrent oils in their skin if you bath him to much ( more than every 3 months) his skin with be very dry and this can cause rashes you should not put any creams on it until you see a vet.

Flea bites, even from just one or two fleas, can cause hot spots when the dogs scratch or bite the area where the fleas are biting. We have three dogs and two of them have flea allergies. We sometimes have to rotate flea prevention products as they seem to otherwise lose their effectiveness. When we notice the scratching, we'll find a few hot spots and treat them with "Septi-Clens" which we get from the Pet store. We'd get a prescription product from the Vet if that was not enough.
I'd recommend getting the dog checked by the Vet because any kind of skin problem that causes crusting, hair loss can become serious if not treated as it is starting.
At least this way you will know you are using the right product and taking the right steps to reverse this.
