I have a 98 Dodge Stratus ES V6. And I had a series of problems with it. From Severe oil leaks, radiator leak (caused the car to run hot), misfiring, fuel injectors replaced, tune up and a lot more. However for the past two years I can’t seem to understand why my check engine light comes on and the car dies. Oh, guess what, I got a new engine put on there last week, for the fact that Firestone said I needed new lifters. And my check engine light came on today and the car died. The inside of me wants to cry so badly, but I kept myself strong for 3 years now with this car doing this. I enjoy this car enough because I don’t have to pay for monthly notes. Now, as soon as I have more time on my schedule I will return my car back to the shop that was working on it to let them know that this is now the only problem that occurs.

Please Help!

Why wouldnt you just run your cars computer? aka do a diagnostic test?

That will say why the light is coming on.

The things that happened to your car arent that big of a deal. Oil leaks happen to old cars...(its 11 years old)...nothing severe at all yet.

Take it back to the guy who put the motor in if you cant run a diagnostic on it yourself.

By the way, what happened when it died? For all I know, you could have just run out of gas....

Take your car to autozone and ask for them to read your engine code.
They will tell you why you're service engine light is on, and chances are thats why its dying.

Hope all goes well.

i had a 2004 stratus that i bought for my wife and kept it for three months because the dealership had it more then i did. The air conditioning kept going out and I live in vegas(desert) which today got to 115. I personally will not own another dodge.

the check engine light can come on for many reasons ,have them scan the computer for trouble codes so you,ll have something to work with ,once you get the code find out the meaning of it and work with that, those are pretty good cars, i own two of them that have been really good cars, but when they do give a problem sometimes it takes a scanner and someone who really know how to read one to know whats going on with it,its a shame that most people who own a scanner don't really know the capabilities of what they can do,that's why so many cars go around now with ongoing problems, good luck.
