my dads yamaha xt 600 it runs good on the bottom end but the top end is lacking

is there a carb adjustment? i was wondering if there was a carb adjustment that would fix that problem it is a stock carb it is a 87 xt 600
 
That model has a weird carb set-up.
One carb is cable operated and the other is a CV carb.
The CV carb may need repair.
Leaking gasket, worn out return spring, throttle slide sticking in the carb bore, vacuum hose removed or leaking.
Remove the carbs and inspect them.
