my computer won't play sounds on webpages or normal warning sounds, but plays

media player if not online.? This happened suddenly. Have checked all volume controls, tested speakers (working, except for windows sounds); updated drivers; updated registry; downloaded & run Kodec lite (& tweak tool); run CCleaner. Nothing has worked so far. Would really appreciate any help. Haven't had any sound on Youtube, or facebook (but Skype works). Any answers?
 
if you have a 64-bit computer than that is the problem...32-bit doesn't usually have those problems....
