My computer won't let me connect to MY wireless network?

Okay, so a neighbor, I guess, has their wireless network unprotected and named linksys (the default stuff). I can use this connection, but I don't want to. I want to use MY connection (MaZ), which my Available Networks list says has a very good connection.

Here's the problem
Both MaZ and linksys are on my list of acceptable wireless networks (the one that lists out any networks you've connected to and, therefore, find acceptable for use), but when I remove linksys from this list, thereby disconnecting from linksys, MaZ disappears from my available wireless networks, so I can't try to connect through it. If I try to connect to MaZ while linksys is still on the list, my computer will claim to be attempting to connect through MaZ (a window opens saying that it is now connecting), but I can look at my internet icon in the sidebar or on the Available Wireless Networks list and see it is connecting to linksys.

I have no clue how to fix this problem. If it helps, my wireless connection comes from a router downstairs and I was the one to set up MaZ, so I know I'm using the correct password (it's a WPA connection).
