My compaq pc hard drive indicator light flashes amber and windows doesn't start?

I tried saving a simple excel file, but it seemed frozen. I tried to force shutting down the computer to restart it fresh again, but now all it does is go to the windows logo, then nothing. Just a blank screen. The hard drive indicator just flashes a consistent amber.

Is my hard drive still intact? What do I do?
 
it sounds like your 0S has crashed, try getting to safe mode. if your cannot get into that, then you will either have to replace your hard drive/ or re-format your computer. id try re-formating your computer first
