My Cingular v551 disappeared. What to get now?

Somewhere in a snowbank (meeting the same fate as my old Nokia 6250 a few years back).

Here's what i need from Cingular, wondering if any opinions might come my way from more experienced HoFo folks. I'm out of contract, but I'd like to wait for the 8125 to come out before wasting away on a 2 year contract again. So in the meantime:

1. Need bluetooth
2. Prefer clamshell (bars answer phone/pocket dial too easily for me)
3. Need speakerphone
4. Need EDGE type service
5. Looking for good reception, I live in the mtns. (v551 was pretty good)
6. Prefer decent ring/speaker quality, but that's a 'nice-to-have'
7. Don't know if I need quad band, but it would be nice I guess (so I can brag about my quad bands to my tri friends?)

Figuring I should buy on ebay. PHones I'm looking at are the Razr v3, v600 and the v220. My v551 was great, but I'm sort of tired of the look now that I'm being forced. Suggestions? Is ebay the best place, and how would one avoid a Danish non-working phone (tricks to tell if it will be okay on Cingular here)

None of the phones you listed have EDGE, if you need EDGE and want to stick with Moto then your looking at V360 and V635.....

But of the phones you listed, it all comes down to what you want, the menu's and everything are all going to be the same comming from a V551...
 
i found out this morning that someone *does* have my phone (they used it to call voicemail--i checked online). so i left a message on the phone offering $50 cash if they return it... hoping they won't see that it's selling new for over $125 on ebay.

called cingular, and the rep disabled international calls, and i guess i'll keep watching the usage, because it's a work voicemail i don't want to shut it off just yet.

the part i'm disappointed in is that they cannot list the ESN as stolen. this would sure help prevent a lot of trafficking in stolen phones, IMO. lesson learned.

should i use my upgrade or wait for the new set of phones to come out? that is the question. sigh!
