My chrysler won't shift?????

I have a 96 chrysler lhs and sometimes when I start it there are no lights on telling what gear its in.When I cycle the key on and off they come on after 3 or 4 attempts.When driving it sometimes won't shift and this only happens when the transmission gear indicator light is off.This just started about a week ago.Thoughts?
 
You don't want to hear my thoughts.

Find a local ATRA certified shop and take it there. DO NOT take it to a dealer or a transmission store like AAMCO/Mr Transmission.
