Its a 94 model. It has a 3.3 engine...

Ok so almost every trip I make it gets stuck in first gear. I throw my car in neutral and restart and it works sometimes,, and sometimes is doesnt and I have to repeat the process. What could it be??

actually gets stuck in 2nd gear, probaly ck engine/service engine soon light on also???

trans problem causes trans computer to put trans in "limp home" mode...2nd gear.

MOST of the time it is one of the 2 speed sensors mounted on the radiator side of the trans VERY close to where the 2 cooler hoses go into trans, right above a big electrical connector.

if the speed continues to work when you have the pbolem replace the input speed sensor or the one closest to the engine., speedo cuts out too, replace the output speed sensor. OR as most people do just replace them both. get from dealer they are not expensive. they SCREW in and out of trans. snug them up and just a WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE bit of extra pressure, tooooooooooooo tight and they will break!!!!!!!!

May have to pull air cleaner/ something else out of the way to access.

if your car is stuck in one gear, that usually means the transmission is in limp mode.. Here are a few things that could cause your problem(s). #1-improper transmission fluid. All Chrysler vehicles are supposed to use Mopar ATF+4 transmission fluid per TSB #21-006-01 of June 29, 2001 and nothing else. If you have any other fluid in there, and there's a good 75% chance the last owner didn't use the right fluid, you'll have transmissions issues. #2- your solenoid pack is on the verge of quitting. The solenoid pack can fail because of using the wrong fluid in the transmission, these transmissions are VERY sensitive to the type of fluid you use in them. #3- the programming in the TCM is getting out dated for the mileage of the vehicle. You can either get the PCM flashed or replace it all together.
