My chinchilla is acting weird?

When my chinchilla was playing in the restroom and i was sitting down taking care of him. He sat on my legs for a little while so when i was petting him he bit me on my stomach ?

Is this normal i didn't hurt him he just bit me out of no where ?

P.S i only had him about a week.
