My chihuahua won't stop whining crying and barking all night!?

My chihuahua is 7 years old, and still cries at night when I put him to bed.?
He is in a gated, small kitchen with his bed, and my other chihuahua (who sleeps soundly all night). On some nights, he is fine, but on other nights, he freaks out, crying and barking, and won't stop. I take him out before bed. He has a blanket. I don't know what to do. Help!

He is a hyper dogs anyways but I give him TONS of attention during the day and he gets plenty of exercise.

I should add that for five years of his life he slept in the bed with me. I tried a crate in my room when he was little and he cried ALL night. However, for the past year, he has been sleeping in the kitchen. I would have thought by now he would stop.

I don't know what to do.

You question doesn't say if this is a new behavior or not. If it is sudden it might be that the dog is loosing hearing or vision. I would try putting him in an area where he can see people and not feel abandoned, or take him to the vet in case there is an issue you are not aware of.
