I have a 2002 chevy s-10 and the back brake lights keep sticking when im using the brakes. If I tap the brake pedal a few times eventually they will go off, but when they do stick the 3rd brake light on the cargo work fine even when the back brake lights stick.

I have changed the turn signal and hazard flasher and changed out the brake switch but still no luck. I even unplugged the brake switch when the back brake lights were stuck on and they were still on. Its just the back two because the third brake light works fine. They just randomly stick and just tapping on it will make them go off. I also have noticed that before I get out of my truck , I have turned off the ignition and they are still on so I tap on the brake petal until it has turned off and sometimes after I do that when I close my door they turn on.

I just cant figure out why

Spray wd-40 into your four way flasher button, work it up/down for 5 minutes. Now see if your problem still exists.

Over time crud and dirt fill up the contacts causing lighting to have problems. 90% of all lighting wiring goes through this switch.

Those trucks are known for the tail light assemblies going bad, specifically the circuit boards in them. Have them tested. You can get less expensive ones after market. It's cheaper top pay to test, then to just replace in this situation. As you already are finding out.
