my car wont start 1995 toyota camry 4cill?

my car wont start, next to the engine their is 2fuse boxes i took each fuse out and checked them out one by one to see if they were good and placed them in the correct location. when i try to start the car it makes that cheka cheka noise if u know what i mean i tryed pressing the gas pedal as well and nothing when i stop i cam smell a gassy smell although my car leaks here and there but i regularly check all the oils and all is good there. the car is a 1995 toyota camry 4 cillindar what else can i try to start the car? thnx
 
i had a little earlier camry 4cly that wouldn't start. pulled the distributor cap & turned the engine by hand. while doing that i saw the rotor didn't turn too. the timing belt was broke. had to replace it & that fixed the problem.

Hard to tell, but if cheka cheka is a metallic clicking noice, it could be the starter solinoid engaging but the starter does not spin due to perhaps either low voltage (check your battery) or the brushes have gone bad, so time for a new starter.

If cheka cheka means the same as Rrrr Rrrr Rrrr of an engine turning over but not catching, then leave the starter alone and check to see if you have a spark first. Good hunting
