My car is stuck in first gear-I have reverse and park, but no 2,3 4th gear. What can

I do? 93 Chrysler.? Please don't say, junk it, I love my car. What can I do to FIX it. Will it be a new transmission? That is out of the question $$wise.It is an automatic. Low mileage and beautiful.Help!
 
Check the fluid level before you do anything. Most cars have instructions in the manual on how to do that...the instructions are also on the dip stick.
If it's ok...it could be a number of things from a bad sensor to a clogged filter and worst case..a bad gear assembly.
 
id say the tranny is shot.fluid level i dont think would cause it to miss a gear but we can hope i guess.gl

2,3 4th gear and its an automatic?
 
Well the first problem is that its a chrysler. (they don't have a good reputation especially with transmissions.) My grandfather had a chrysler around your year and he had to replace the tranny 3 times before he gave up on it (his had low miles too.) So as to fixing it i'd check your transmission fluid first off.
