My car is starting to clunk out.. I want to buy a new car, but don't know

Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord, and my parents actually got whatever the Hyndria equivalent is to a Corolla and that appears to work well. However, I would only recommend purchasing a brand new car if you can actually afford to pay cash for it. Cars quickly depreciate in value the second you drive them off the lot. You also have to consider that a new car will bring higher premiums on your insurance and higher taxes if you have car tax. I would also certainly play one dealership off against the other if you have that option and see who gives you the best price. Don't forget tax, tags, etc as well.

what would be a reliable one to get? I currently drive a 99 beetle.. i've had it since i was 16 and im 19 now. It's starting to act up and I spending more money to fix it, probably more than what it's worth. I was wondering if anyone knew of a reliable car I should get. For example, what would be the best make that is reliable if I am going to be purchasing a brand new car. Also, what brand is reliable and has decent prices? I honestly don't know much about cars or purchasing a new car. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
