Okay, so I own a 1995 Ford Thunderbird Auto with a 4r70w tranny. So the problem started several months ago. Basically, the car goes in reverse just fine, but in drive, it's a different story. The engine revs, but the car won't pick up speed. It still goes forward, but it's like the engine power isn't going to the transmission.
As soon as I sensed trouble, I bought a rebuild kit and did a complete overhaul, seals, clutches, etc. After putting it back in and taking a test drive, I had the SAME problem. I suspect maybe the torque converter may have crapped itself, but before I drop the tranny again, I'd figure I'd ask for some other, less strenuous problems that could cause this. Any suggestions?
