My brother wants to go in the army?

My brothers going into the army.
he's passed most of the tests and should be going in later this year or next year, but im really worried. Theres been so many deaths on the news, he's my only brother which makes it harder to let him go, but telling him not to would be selfish, what should i do?
 
It can be dangerous, but there are hundreds of thousands of troops doing their job everyday without getting hurt, so keep that in mind.
 
Be supportive. You only hear of deaths being reported because those of us who come back from deployment just fine isn't a juicy news story. Thousands have been deployed, and returned home safe, but that doesn't get reported on the news. Only the bad stuff makes it on the news.
 
It opens the door to allot of opportunities. I wasted 5 years after HS before going to college. This would be a good chance to discover himself and serve his country. Statistically it is far more dangerous for a young man living in an urban area.
 
Support him. Joining the military is the right thing to do. It is the responsibility of all citizens to serve the country. Freedom isn't free. You should be proud of your brother. I AM
