my brake lights will not cut off on my 89 mazda 929,I dont know what the

problem could be ?
yes its the lights on the back of the car,my son hit a pole and it scraped all the way down the drivers side and ever since then they have been stuck on.I do have a leak in the brake fluid thingy..will that cause the back lights to do that? He says he slammed the brakes really hard when it happened.!
 
there is a switch on the brake pedal some are adjustable make sure its not loose or broken
