My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost 3 years now. We are long distance, but have made it work out...until recently. My boyfriend is addicted to his XBOX 360 and he does not see it. He spends all his spare time playing his games, confirmed by his family, even staying up until late hours of the night. He supposedly has class every day of the week, but I don't really believe that because you would think he'd be more responsible about getting a good nights rest and what not. Plus I usually see him online during the times he supposed to be in class.

The worst part of this all, is that he is lying to me about what he is actually doing. He will say he is at school but he is really at home playing his video games. He will say he's tired and wants to go to bed, but then I will discover that he has stayed up until 3/4AM playing. It is getting really old and I hate being lied to, but this is honestly the guy I want to spend the rest of my life with. It has never been bad until the last 2-ish weeks. We even talked about the lying last time we saw each other, about being honest and trying to make it so there was less tension between us, but he seems to have forgotten that conversation (held less than a week ago).

The good thing is, whenever we are actually together, which is about 2 weekends a month, that time is completely focused on us being together. He doesn't play games while we are together and we are completely in love! He just has these two little....well quite large flaws.

I guess what I am seeking for is some advice on how to handle this situation. You would think he would get sick of it at some point, but it doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.

Thank you,

So you want to spend the rest of your life with a guy who ignores you and would rather play video games than hang out with you. Good, you are on the path to being a doormat. Make sure you have good health care for when he starting slapping you around for trying to demand he stop playing games...

He has no reason to stop playing...his parents enable him to play, you enable him to play.

Do this, stop calling him, plan it for a week...just don't call or respond...if he does get in contact with you, tell him you were busy...

1) Maybe you could find a new hobby to do together? It would distract him from the video games and you two could get closer! :)

2) Invite him out more often with some mates so hes not stuck inside all day

3) If these dont work tell him straight you wish hed play less video games or u want him to spend more time with you. Just talk it throught gently with him

4) Ask yourself...Who does he love the most, you or the video games?

5) if all else fails, arrange a sneak attack on the xbox, so it 'accidently breaks' then hell have to stop playing !

Hope these ideas help and good luck :)

xx
