...from him needing coolant? the car has 126,000 miles on it, and has made no new sounds or feelings when it is turned on or being drove. He needed coolant, because he had almost none at all. He has added the coolant so it is full now, but the check engine light is still on. Was him needing coolant the reason the check engine light came on, or is that not a reason the light would come on?
 
yes that could of being the trouble,check all levels under the hood. to reset engine check light ,take positive cable off battery,for a couple of seconds then put back on ,your engine light should now be off,if not check with your dealer.
 
Don't listen to idiots telling you to reset the light. Get it read, or buy a $50 code reader and read it yourself. Don't ignore it or guess what it is. Most car parts stores will read it and reset it for free.
