My boyfriend and I never have sex. Why?

I know I'm still young and all, but it's not like he doesn't enjoy it. We seriously only have sex like once a month. Maybe. We do other things and he asks for other things but we just don't have sex. Sometimes after we have sex I get scared that I might be pregnant and I tell him this. He tells me that he doesn't want to get me pregnant but is that really why?
I am 101% sure he is not cheating on me.
 
He either is really scared of you getting preg and ruining both your lives or he is getting some from someone else.He sounds like a smart dude
