My body hates me!

I think Im finally going to have to have my wisdom teeth removed. Theyre impacted and the gums around my bottom left one is squishy and in hideous pain. The soonest they could get me in was the 28th so I get to deal with hideous face pain for 2 weeks. Can they remove teeth from pregnant women? Will the pain meds fuck my kid up? Are they even going to give me anything for pain???

Oh and also on the 21st Im getting the plantars warts removed from my feet. Im not sure how that works, but Im scared of that too. They didnt mention anything about freezing...they said "removal".

I keep throwing up today. I think it might be from face pain though.

Have they invented robot replacement husbands to rub backs yet?

Awww... it sucks that you're going through wisdom teeth crap while you're preggers!

On a good note, I think the pain killers they give you are local, so they should be able to use them on pregnant women. The bright side? More excuses to eat soft squishy food, like ice cream or mac and cheese!

And if it helps, next Thursday I'm going to an orthepaedic surgeon to see if I qualify for back surgery... hooray for two 18" titanium rods in my back!

For the wisdom teeth you can choose not to have meds... but I think you"d pass out, don't worry the doc would not give anything that might hurt your child.

As for the warts, they might try two things, depending how big they are:

1. First freeze them with N2 them cutting around it to remove it.
2. Give you anesthesia, just cut around it to remove the wart and its roots.


I hope you don't get any more nervous, I had once a wart removed by N2 and cutting, to tell you the truth, the anesthesia they gave my toe was more painfull than the process itself, but it's not very painful Imagine you are giving blood, it's just a pinch.
 
:hug2: I always felt like my bodys hating me when I get the migraines(if it happens on a important day or I have it in a few days)

as someone said, at the dentists it's often local.
You throw up often? I mean now when youre preggers and all :o
 
Im not sure what to make of this...I get to discuss the posibility of the wisdom teeth with my doc thursday, but they likely wont clear me for dental surgery because it could stress me out enough to put me in labor.

I guess Im just gonna start swishing with peroxide regularly

Im not as worried about the wart thing...I just hate powertools in my mouth. It scares me.
 
You poor thing....another big concern I don't think you've thought of (I've had mine out for almost....3 years now) is the pain you'll be feeling afterwards. They give out some really heavy pain meds because many people hurt for about a week and a half after getting those out.

As for the ice cream afterwards....I don't know about anyone else, but for about two weeks after I had them removed, anytime I ate anything sugary or sweet, my jaws hurt like a bitch. Mac n Cheese is a good idea, or any pasta really, except spaghetti. Assuming you eat spaghetti the way I do and slurp it. If not, it will be nice and easy on your mouth, because most of the time you don't even have to chew pasta.

I'm sorry you've got all these crap to deal with right now hun. *hugs*
 
Aside from the pain and that it *could* throw me into premature labor the other thing that worries me is eating. I had my tonsils removed when I was 19 and lost 15 pounds because I just couldnt eat at all. (mashed potatos sucked, mac and cheese sucked, ice cream sucked) To even drink liquids required a heavy slug of liquid codiene.

I dunno....Im going to talk to my ob thursday and find out what she thinks is best.
 
Lynn, when I got my wisdom teeth out, I only missed one day of work. If you do end up getting them out (I hope for your sake you do) you'll hurt much worse than ever for about an hour, and then the painkillers (if you get painkillers) will take effect, and you'll float on a cloud for a day and a half, and then be fine.
 
I had a filling put in yesterday, and I have a huge fear of needles. Still can't remember what the name for that phobia is...

I also loathe the thought of some guy with the periodontal equivalent of a DeWalt boring holes in my choppers; Shit, even the sound of those fuckers makes me shiver. Sure, you can't really feel any of it, or see what he's doing in there (Thank God for small favors), but even with the smell of hot enamel and watching bits of my teeth fly all over the room, the only thing that still makes me completely freak is having a goddamn needle shoved in my mouth.

They gave me a Valium so I wouldn't flip out, which, not surprisingly, didn't really work at all. The damn stuff didn't even hit me until after I'd had a minor panic attack, less than a minute or two following the actual injection. The doc left to let the anesthetic go to work, and I sat there freaking out in complete silence for what felt like forever. I started sweating buckets; It actually soaked through my shirt and left a little wet patch on the blue bib-thing they put on me.

I got to have a little fun when the pill took effect, though. They left me alone with the suction thing for a few, and in my loopy state of mind I jammed it up my nose. I plugged the other nostril, and when I opened my mouth my soft palate started flapping. It was like snoring, but so hard I could feel it in my eyeballs. At the time, this struck me as the absolute height of hilarity, so I simultaneously laughed and sneezed out the suction thing. It was all covered in snot and goopy saliva. Beautiful.

Anyway Lynn, I hope you don't have the same problem. Since you're preggers the spinal tap/block/whatever thing they do for labor pain would be no bueno. On the plus side, they'll definitely give you Vicodin for the pain, so if it ever gets too bad, just take two of 'em, pound a glass of OJ, and park your ass in front of the boob tube. I guarantee you'll be there all day. :D
 
I'm sure you have just taken any concern Lynn was having and doubled them.:tongue:

The surgery was not bad even though the novocaine was not as effective as I would have liked. The drooling into cotton and hollow feeling in your mouth as the novocaine wears off was worse imo.

I don't know if vicodin is a no go for you since you're pregnant, but taking them before the anesthesia wears off is important. I had mine pulled at two different times and the second time I wasn't able to get the vicodin until 5 hours after the surgery. It was torture. The first time was the best sleep and hallucinations a prescription could buy. tmk

Vikes are fine for those with one in the oven. Actually, docs don't know if it has any effect on fetal development, but mom took 'em for headaches when I was still cooking, and I turned out fine... I think.
