My Bike won't start. Any Ideas?

You didn't say what year the bike is, but 2,000 miles on any bike other than a new one is very low meaning the bike has sat for long periods of time without riding. Sounds like your battery either needs to be recharged or replaced.

Also sounds like you may be flooding the bike trying to start-up with a weak battery, or you may be running your battery down by flooding the bike. Starting the bike cold, always open the choke, then hit the start button. Stay off the gas until the idle speed begins to race. Close the choke. then you can give it some gas.

The choke is really an enricher. Starting a cold motor requires a richer air-fuel mixture. The enricher adds more gas so you don't need to be adding fuel with the throttle or you will flood the bike. Do not leave the enricher open for more than two or three minutes. Close it as soon as the bike will idle without it.

I just got a Kawasaki Ninja 250R with 2,000 miles on it on Saturday. I have been on it back and forth. Yesterday night I't started giving me a problem and won't start.

There is a clicking noise beneath the seat. After I tried it a few times the clicking sound went weaker and weaker.

We left it alone for about 20 minutes and tried again and it did start but we had to open the choke as we hit the start button and gave it gas.

Any ideas on it?

Thanks a lot!
The battery cables and conectors appear to be fine, no sign of corrosion at all. I'm not sure if the battery has ever been replaced.

Also, what is the purpose of the choke and how does it affect the bike.
The bike is 2006

The battery is weak and may need to be replaced,or Battery cable connections are loose or corroded disallowing proper contact to be charged correctly.Battery may be low on electrolyte and may need charging.
