1st step are your battery, and starter solenoid any good (I know, but you did not mention that step, so I threw it in).
2nd step is do you have good gasoline, not 2 years old (see previous comment).
3rd step is check safety switches. Squeeze the clutch, and raise the kick stand. Then try to start it.
4th step is check for spark. Remove a spark plug, reconnect wire, and bridge the base of the plug to ground. Be SURE you bridge is insulated (I use a rubber handle screwdriver). Hit starter and check for spark in the gap.
5th step is check compression. Remove spark plug and insert compression Gage. Hold down starter button for 3-5 sec and make sure value within range per manual. Some people stick their finger in hole and check for push back, but I do not.
