my bike is dead help?

ok so i dont normally ride motorcycles alot only dirt bikes.. my buddy parked his bike here for a weak so i decided to go for a ride (now heres where it gets stupid) i am used to kick starting my dirt bike not the push start ignition so i turn the key to on i hear the fuel pump turn on ( i think that's what it was) and then realize its not a kick start so i must have turned the key on and off like 10 times trying to figure out what i was doing ... ( i wish it was a dirt bike im much better with them) any way i leave it in the on position and go inside to google where i realize there is the button i have to push to start the bike ( man im an idiot) i go back out and the bike is dead .. i man it dont do anything no lights no sound of the pump turning on nothing .. what is wrong with it can the battery die that fast i was only inside like 10 min please help i need to get it runnig b4 he comes to pick it up

dude, don't ever sit on a motorcycle again. and yeah.. go to wal-mart and get a battery and get someone to put it in, not hard but I didn't think starting a motorcycle was either. or you can just tell your buddy the battery went dead and have him fix that, you didn't wreck it so it cant be a big issue.
