My Betta fish might swim bladder disease.. how do i help from dying?

When I saw my betta fish lying on the bottom of the bowl, I thought it was just resting and just enjoyed being down there. But one day he started to swim around on his side and seemed like he couldn't control the way he swam.

I was worried and searched online and found a result of either constipation or swim bladder disease.

I cleaned the tank and shallowed the water but it still looks as though he's having trouble breathing.. he has his mouth open wide and his gills look like they are spilling out from his body..

I keep him warm and I haven't fed him about 2 days now.. but I still feel like he's going to die. and I feel bad. Is there any other way I can help?..

and oh yeah, for some reason I've seen these small clear feather looking goop in the bowl and I just thought it was created by my fish, like a natural goop or something.. Does that have anything to do with it?

i have three betas and none of them are in a tank.
two of them are in a tall glass jar, one is in a wine glass.
but i clean and change the water everyday.
you might have let the tank/ or w/e get really dirty.

the problem is a bowl...
how are you "keeping it warm"?
it's probably too late for him, sorry. but before you get a new one, get rid of the bowl and get at least a 2.5gallon tank with a filter and heater.

you have not told use how long you have have the betta their lifespan is 3 years sounds like he is rip-- i keep mind at room temp for a year now and i have not have any problems - the temp should never be over 78 degrees as a rule betta's are cold blood fish

he does have the disease :-(. ok so you should get something that's float-able (foam) and attach it to a string (make sure the foam or whatever you're gonna use isn't to big or else the fish won't be able to swim down). then attach the string to the fish and hopefully it'll help the fish float to eat and swim.
