...give it more? everyone says theres not enought oxygen in the water.. do i put a plant in there or something? what kind?

Take out some of the old water, and put fresh in. Make sure it's close in temperature though.

Well maybe put a plant there
and clean the water and make sure the filter is running

i had fish when i were a kid...i used to put some thing like a motor to supply Oxygen. Filter?

That is how bettas breathe. They have a labyrinth organ similar to our lungs so they take oxygen from the air like we do instead of from the water like most fish.

Look at all the thumbs down on those answers as well, they're wrong. A betta fish must 'sift' air from the water as a regular fish with thier gills, as well as gulp air from the surface. They can actually "drown" when unable to get to the surface to breath. They have a simple lung system that allows them to breath atmospheric air, as we do, but the trade off is they must gulp air to survive. In short, he's fine.
If you're worried however, you can get a bubbler to add oxygen to the tank. You'll need an air pump (get a small one, about 10 bucks), some tubing (price depends on how much you get) and an air stone (under a buck). This ought to help put more in the water, but he'll still go to the surface periodically.
Best of Luck!

Bettas get their air from the surface air. But if your worried a plant wouldn't hurt or a small airstone. But bettas don't like a lot of water movement either. I've seen a lot of breeders set-ups and they don't airate each tank because the bettas re air breathers.
