Hi
I have a 1999 new beetle, she is a left hand drive american import (i live in spain so lhd is needed). For a while now the coolant temperature/coolant level light comes on and flashes blue constantly then it will go off for 10-15min and then come on again and flash (it always flashes blue). Sometimes i can be driving for 10min and it will start and other times i can drive for 1hr 1/2 and it doesnt come on and then ill get back in the car and drive it for 1hr and then in the last 30min of the journey it will start flashing (airport runs). We took it to a friend of ours that is a mechanic (spainish ones round our way just rob us!) and he seemed to thing that it was the sensor on the water pump (black square type one) that was faulty and he said we should get a new one, but looking online i keep coming across a coolant sensor and people say that the replace these and it stops plus i cant seem to find anything about the black sensor on the water pump being connected in any way to this coolant light. Should i just change the coolant sensor?? is that why it is flashing?? help!!
