My Back Speakers on my 99 Mazda Protege are not working...?

I Thought it might be the head unit but it turns out that its not now that I have replaced the head unit with a brand new pioneer head unit.

What can I do to find out what is wrong, is there a way to test the wire in the car to see if there is signal? I have a multi-meter but im not sure where to start.
