My amp has been giving me problems and it's related to the ground?

I already drilled 2 new holes and used a dremil tool to take away all the paint til bear metal. But im still having problems the amp works fine for around 30 secs then the bass goes to about half power of before and im thinking its the ground. I've used the same bolt twice and tomorrow am going to get self tapping screws, you think that would help me solve my problem? If not, do you know of anything that could cause this?
Also if you think you might know SOMETHING at least please leave me a comment. I've asked 4 questions regarding this problem none of them have been answered.
