My '99 Jeep hood won't stay closed. Help.?

The driver side latch on my 1999 jeep cherokee limited will not stay locked, causing the hood to bounce when driving. Any tricks to keeping the hood latched down- other than going to a mechanic and having them fix it?
 
There is a pivot and linkage rods to each latch, the latch or the pivot is corroded.
You can free them up by manipulating them and spraying rust penetration lube on these components.
It is normally the pivot that causes this problem.
