my 99 jeep 4.0 has what sounds like lifter noise are they hard to adjust?

well if its your lifters then thats a big job to get at them. before you do all that work i would suggest this...

1. if you happen to have roller rockers in your jeep, then it may be that, my roller rocker arms rattle a little bit at low rpms and then you cant hear them at high rpms. but i doubt your jeep has those idk :)

2. try putting synthtic oil in it. just worth a try i think.

3. try using 'Sea Foam'. its an engine cleaner that cleans engines very well. you put 1/3 of it in your intake, 1/3 in your oil, and 1/3 in your gas. it cleans everything. the 1/3 that goes in your oil may fix your problem. my friends have told me to use it on my truck. i dont have personal experience with it...but they told me when you put it in, the engine will be hard to start at first but once it gets going it will stay running and pump out alot of smoke. the smoke is just the sea foam cleaning your engine. but since its in your oil it should clean out any dirt by your lifters. you can ger Sea Foam for like 10 bucks at an auto store.

its worth the 10 dollars to try and see if it fixes your problem. if it does then you will save yoursefl a whole lot of time and money. i would seriously try the Sea Foam. my one friend used it on his grandma's mustang and he said you could notice the difference.

the best of luck. i hope it works for you

If it is your lifters, then an adjustment will not help. You must take the lifter out completely and clean them, there is probably a deposit of gook that needs to be removed.
