My 98 Cadillac Catera is overheating!?

Here is what happens. When I first turn the car on and start driving, my engine will start to overheat. When I stop the car and turn it off I get under the hood and open my radiator cap. Now when I open the cap it sounds like it forces the coolant through its system like a valve or pump isn't working. Then when I screw the cap back on it runs fine. Anyone know what this might be?

You have a Catera? Set it on fire and buy something else. Seriously. That car is an abortion.

It's a pretty simple system. Make sure you have enough coolant in your radiator, that done change the thermostat. If those two things don't fix it it is probably your water pump which can be a pain to replace yourself.
