I turn the key and it will not start up. I took it to the mechanic and he can not find the problem. He replaced the crank sensor and it started up. when I picked it up he said it was fixed I started it at his garage and it would not crank. He took the part off put the old one on and it cranked up. He did not charge me but said he can't figure it out. That was a few days ago and now about 2 hrs ago it stopped cranking again. What could be wrong? Help please?

It could be that either the dist cap or rotor is faulty or the ignition coil is bad there is a few meter tests you can perform to find out if the coil is bad or not.I recall that the two wire plug in connector going to the dist housing is unplugged there should be 0.06 to 0.80 resistance reading and with the meter connected to either one of those primary coil pins and the coil high voltage tower there should be 12,000 to 18,000 ohms and if any of these tests vary out of these ranges the coil is faulty.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way small world bec a friend of mine is also having the same problem with his 96 Seabring and we're waiting on a online ordered coil bec it's much cheaper.Need anymore help or advice you may email me , by the way I've some diagrams and service manual info etc on that vehicle.
