My 93 Mazda Protege will not start! Cooling issue? 1.8L (No start)?

I recently bought a Mazda from my buddy, The radiator was leaking so i replaced that for him. Months later Coolant was still leaking but wasn't sure where from. Looks like it was leaking from the water pump? Before i left i started it & it wasn't idling right, Driving home i noticed the engine was Hot. I live in MN so the temp that day was 6 degrees out & i was close too home so decided to still drive it. MISTAKE!!!! About 10 Min's later the engine had stalled on me and coolant smoke was coming from the engine. Left it on the road that nite too cool & filled up the radiator the next day. She wants to turn over but it's not as strong as it should sound. I pulled out 1 of the spark plugs & was wet with gas. That could have been from when it was almost starting over so i decided too give it gas?? ANY SUGGESTIONS? Checked my oil and there isnt any antifreeze up in there. I really need my mazdaratti running! Any anwsers/tips would be great. . thx
