My 93 Dodge Dakota won't go into overdrive (fourth gear)!?

I have a 1993 Dodge dakota 5.2 liter with an automatic trans.
When started and driven in the morning, it will go into overdrive one time, but will not go back into overdrive once it downshifts. This occurs every morning and I am still trying to diagnose the problem.
My first thought would be the overdrive solenoid, but the fact it works one time every day throws me off. If you have any tips to help diagnose my vehicle please help!

Pretty much, make sure all engine sensors are working properly. Overdrive is disabled by any one of half a dozen sensors. Chrysler like to change how it's controlled about every five minutes and doesn't like to publish the details so it's hard to list them.
