My 6x9s *pop* as soon as i turn up my stereo?

I bought a new JVC deck, i have a pair of Sony 6 1/2s up front that sound fine. My 6x9's are JBL GTO-927's. They are rated at 100w rms/300w peak. My deck only throws out 50w. Why are they popping? Suggestions?
 
First off, your deck puts out about 20 RMS watts, not 50. Peak power means nothing.

Could they be blown? The voice coils might be damaged. Is your bass jacked all the way up?
 
check your crossovers and make sure they are secured with plenty of slack on the wire between the crossover and speaker terminals. if you play your speakers loud with messed up crossovers then you are just asking for a speaker replacement.
